BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care with Foundation Year
The coordinated delivery of services, primarily motivated by the needs of patients and communities, is critical to a healthy population. The study will introduce you to the significant theories and discussions that affect health and social care, helping you to acquire the skills and information you’ll need for a rewarding profession. You’ll investigate life quality, effective caregiving, and communication to develop a strong foundation in customised health and care provision. You’ll also look at models of person-centred provision and the effects of behaviours on health. This health and social care degree has been developed in collaboration with top health and social care businesses to address the demand for qualified workers in this expanding area of provision. You’ll be at the cutting edge of education and professional practice in health and social care, gaining the expertise needed to influence the long-term health of our populations.
You will take courses in the integrated Foundation Year in Health and Care to advance your academic abilities and self-belief. You will also learn about essential ideas, arguments, and skills supporting and informing your second, third, and fourth years of undergraduate degree studies. You’ll look into effective caregiving, communication, and quality of life. Additionally, you will learn the fundamental elements that affect social care and health. After completing your Foundation Year, you’ll have a firm foundation in delivering customised health and care, investigating person-centred delivery methods and the effects of behaviours on health. In addition, the decision-making processes affecting health and social care will be explained so you can learn how to manage these areas.
You will be taught by experts in their fields who will assist you in developing subject-specific skills and looking at health and social care from a national and international perspective while considering cultural values and beliefs. This will prepare you to provide kind, excellent, and inclusive care services for individuals, families, and communities. Your study levels will demonstrate the value of cultural competence, social fairness, adherence to pertinent laws, and professional standards. Your degree requires professional work placements, allowing you to get experience in various health and social care settings. For instance, in organisations that offer adult and older adult residential care, with youth work teams, in the NHS, in children’s and family centres, and with nonprofits and other non-governmental organisations. Due to this degree’s application, you will graduate with the professional practice-related knowledge, abilities, and experience that companies in this expanding industry seek.
