Entry Requirements to Study in Sweden

English Language Requirements

IELTS:  Above 6.5 with no area less than 5.5

TOEFL: 90 with 20 in writing

PTE:  Above 62 (Writing: 61)

Bachelor:

Students must:

  • have completed the upper secondary (high school) level of education.
  • demonstrate English proficiency. 

Master:

You must:

  • possess a Bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised university equivalent to the Swedish Kandidatexamen.
  • be able to demonstrate proficiency in English. This can be accomplished by taking an internationally recognised test, such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc. Some countries also accept previous upper secondary or university studies. Learn what level is required for Master’s courses and programs on the university website you wish to study at.

PhD:

You must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s or higher degree focusing on the intended field of study. Master’s degrees are usually required. In addition, applicants must have written a degree thesis presenting their research.
  • English proficiency is a must. In addition, several subjects require Swedish skills for lectures and seminars.
