The University of West Scotland (UWS) was established by merging the University of Paisley and Bell College in August 2007. The University has 16,000 students and has campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton, and Paisley, making it one of Scotland's most prestigious modern universities. As of the 2022 World University Rankings published by Times Higher Education, UWS has been ranked among the top 600 universities worldwide and the top 150 universities under 50. Furthermore, UWS was named the 2022 Higher Education Institution of the Year (The Herald Higher Education Awards).
